Abigails, nestled in the Village Arcade of St Albans, is a charming coffee shop that has quickly become a beloved spot among locals and visitors alike. Customers rave about the warm hospitality offered by the attentive staff, creating a cozy atmosphere that feels like home. Many reviews highlight the delightful outdoor patio, perfect for enjoying a cup of coffee or a cheeky glass of wine while soaking in views of a peaceful green space and the cathedral.
Food offerings are equally impressive, with Colin White praising the "exquisite Welsh rarebit," characterized by its soft, melting texture and robust flavor, complemented by top-quality bacon. The afternoon tea experience also garners positive remarks, especially for the lovely home-baked cakes and quick service, making it a great value. However, some guests noted that bread freshness can vary, particularly on busy Sundays.
Overall, Abigails shines as a hidden treasure, serving delicious snacks, sandwiches, and indulgent desserts. Whether you're looking for a comforting meal or a sweet treat, this café excels in creating memorable dining moments. A visit to Abigails is a delightful way to end your day in St Albans.

What a wonderful warm welcome from 2 super hostesses on this wet and wintry lunchtime. I loved my table outside for this stunning view. Fabulous coffee followed by the most exquisite Welsh rarebit I have eaten, soft melting texture with tons of flavour. Came with top quality bacon too. My last meal out before tier 4 and what a treat.

Lovely outdoor patio overlooking a quiet green space and the cathedral. In the afternoon the tables are in the sun which is perfect for an afternoon coffee or hot choc or even a cheeky glass of wine.

We had the afternoon tea. Good value for what you get, and the cake and scone were lovely. The service was quick, and there is an outside area that would be nice in the summer. The sandwiches were nice, but the bread wasn't very fresh (but it was a Sunday)

Tucked away in Village Arcade, is this family cafe. Serving sandwiches, cakes and hot drinks, it's the perfect way to end the day in St Albans. We took a seat outside under a parasole, as the heavens were to open any minute. We were served by extremely friendly staff and loved the cake which are all home-baked.

Clean plates all round & good cappuccino/latte good find down colourful little alleyway. No very nearby parking unless have disabled badge 1 alleyway (see pic) is more accessible than the other if you have difficulty walking. We'll be back for afternoon tea next time

Service was lightning quick, the waitresses were on top of everything and we had tea and scones on our table in less than 5 minutes. We also had Welsh rarebit on toast which was delicious. Staff were friendly and the atmosphere was great. Sat outside on a sunny afternoon - thanks for a great lunch

A really cosy cafe with a family-owned feel to it. Located just around the corner from the Abbey, and with a better food selection. The food was very good and fantastic value for money. Service was quick and friendly.
